Education

Supporting change makers to positively transform society

As an education charity we provide a range of support to improve the reach and impact of permaculture education. From supporting our educators with their continuous professional development through events, resources and tools, to providing our learners worldwide with an outstanding and regularly updated curriculum, new and globally respected diploma system, PAB certification and excellent learning environments from LAND centres through to inspiring projects regional and internationally. Our educators have high standards for providing lifelong transformative education, reaching into communities, schools, Universities, towns and city councils.

We host an annual Educators gathering and monthly CPD calls, run a global membership scheme to support educators, manage extensive course listings (the most popular page on our website), issue globally respected certificates and have an active group of experienced educators in our voluntary Education Working group.

Online Learning

Want to get started in permaculture but find it tricky to attend a course in person? Our online courses have been designed to support learners who want to learn virtually. We offer both teacher-led and self-study courses for our Foundations of Permaculture and Growing Food in Small Spaces and Nature’s Principles course. Our courses are all run by certified educators in collaboration with the Permaculture Association.

What’s next after the PDC? If you want to continue designing with guided support, our Diploma programme helps put permaculture theory into practice. Our network of over 30 tutors supports Diploma Apprentices through the design process to create a portfolio of work. Our apprentices and tutors are living, designing and teaching all over the UK and beyond, creating life and world-changing designs for personal and community resilience.

The diploma can help you improve your personal life, home, community, workplace, landscapes and planet in these turbulent times.

Working groups

Working groups and regional networks help the Permaculture Association and wider network take forward important initiatives. Working groups are open to members and by invitation to other people that want to help. The working groups are supported by staff members and driven forward by members with some brilliant results! It is with the support of so many brilliant volunteers that we manage to get so much done - do consider joining and getting involved.

Permaculture Community Hub

In 2022, we launched the first dedicated online community forum space dedicated to building the movement through conversation. The Permaculture Community Forum is a space for people to connect with other like-minded people, find answers to their permaculture questions and be part of the conversation about building a regenerative future. As well as the main home space, which anyone can join, there are dedicated membership spaces for Education, Diploma, project & LAND and a Digital Campfire Space hosting regular movement building online sessions.
