Course summary

“A Batty Evening” event at Denmark Farm Conservation Centre, kindly supported by the North Ceredigion Bat Group.
A short introduction followed by outdoor discovery session with bat detectors.

This is a wonderful chance to discover nature at night and encounter several different bat species; common pipistrelles, soprano pipistrelles, noctules and brown long-eared bats have all been heard at Denmark Farm (but there are no guarantees they’ll appear on the night!) Learn how they hunt and separate bat facts from bat fiction!

Bat detectors are used so that bat echo-location calls are audible to the human ear. Bats are not the only creatures out at night – owl calls may add to the atmosphere.

Please bring a torch and suitable warm clothing. Insect repellent is also advisable.

All welcome.

There is no need to book for this event but if the weather is bad please phone 01570 493358 first to check if we are going ahead. In the event of very poor weather conditions we will defer until the following week: Tues 26th August at the same time.

Refreshments available (donations gratefully accepted).
