This course is to gain experience of the handling and insight into the use and limitations of a range of materials which are generally regarded as being sensitive to the environment e.g.- earth, straw, lime and hemp.

Also to learn how to evaluate the performance of each material against different criteria (e.g. environmental legacy, ease of use, practical considerations, and material properties).

The overall aim of the module is to develop knowledge of the properties of at least five materials considered to have a good environmental performance enhanced with the experience of practical applications.

It is also intended to give an understanding on what is meant by an Environmental Material and how does one decide that?
