Cost Course fee (not including lunch) £55. Course summary This one day course will cover the materials and techniques you need to know in order to build your own earth oven using cob. Experience each stage of construction of an oven including mixing the clay and sand, laying the base out and constructing a mold/former. At the end of the day you will have completed the first layers of the oven and will be able to see how to use a finished oven on-site as you make your own pizzas! A list of topics covered in the course includes: Clay and other materials, sourcing etc. Oven construction Shelter considerations Layout of the cooking area Wood/fuel Fire and baking tools Lighting and preparing the oven Pizza - background and ideas Dough/Ingredients Baking in the Oven Community event ideas & checklist We will use one we made earlier, to explore the final building stages and also learn techniques of lighting, firing and baking. This part of the course will focus on preparing pizza and some other classics - and provide late lunch.
