It will give you a good grounding in the core elements of permaculture including the ethics or values that underpin it, the principles from nature that it draws on, and a design framework for applying them. You will be encouraged to explore and consider the issues that matter to you in your life and work, as well as offered plenty of practical examples of permaculture in action in a wide range of contexts. The course includes a visit to Chris and Lyn Dixon's wonderful, long-established permaculture site (see www.konsk.co.uk), where Chris will tell you all about what they have done with their piece of Snowdonian hillside using permaculture ideas. The course also includes a design exercise during which you will work in groups to develop a permaculture design for a specified site, working to a client's brief. This time we hope to be designing facilities for the North Wales Wildlife Trust and Gwerin y Coed (the Woodcraft Folk in Wales) at the beautiful Gwaith Powdwr reserve on the Dwyryd estuary (see http://www.wildlifetrusts.org/reserves/gwaith-powdwr). The course is non-residential but accommodation is available at the venue or in neighbouring areas - please ask for information when you book.
