About the format:

This PDC is created for long-distance learning and geared towards a specific project design and implementation. It is for knowledgeable permaculture practitioners capable of self-authoring, who want to complete the PDC curriculum and integrate design skills by following a real life design process under inspiring supervision and personalised approach to keep you on track!

The 6-month process combines a mix of 1) group tutorials, 2) one-on-one mentoring and a 3) assessment & graduation ceremony.

The programme ensures a rich tandem between the three learning dimensions:

  • fulfillment of core UK PDC curriculum (tutorials, assessment, customised self-study, vis-a-vis competency checklist);
  • personalized approach to each student’s interests, learning styles and choice of individual project design;
  • safe and intimate space for group sharing, mutual inspiration and interaction around selected themes.

The group of maximum 5 persons meets monthly and shares customised tutorials. This allows for optimal use of the time and of group diversity in learning exchanges. The course is aimed at clarifying, enriching and completing the base PDC curriculum, it does not teach the full extent of content of a 72h in-person course, but provides a well-designed container to put existing permaculture knowledge into action through a real life design and complete selected themes from the curriculum. The course verifies individual knowlegdge and skills against a PDC competencies matrix.

Who is it for:

The course  is meant for people with dynamic self-education capacity and passion for impacting their own learning process, who have already harnessed multiple sets of nature skills and land strategies and want to integrate them whislt gaining a PDC certificate. As part of the small group you will have support of mentoring whilst sharing the learning journey with a few others. If you value autonomy in steering your learning, quality group exchanges and highly personalised mentoring, this PDC will strike your chord!

The course is NOT for total beginners: it assumes that students have at least 75% curriculum covered from a combination of other sources (previous workshops, own gardening practice, apprenticeships, reading). This gets verified (through variety of forms) with the tutor before the person gets enrolled to the course (interview and self-assessment). The group is composed of persons who share a compatible set of skills and level.
