Course summary

An opportunity to learn some valuable skills for tool repair and restoration. Bring along your own neglected tools and discover how to give them a new lease of life.

We will start with a demonstration of some of the different techniques of tool replair including:
- Good handle recognition
- Exact handle fitting using spokeshave
- Riveting and wedging
- Sharpening to restore blades wherever possible

For the rest of the day you will then have time to work on your own tool repair, under expert tuition and guidance.

Please bring up to three of your own items (from the list below) that you would like to repair:
- Spade / axe / garden tool – requiring a new handle (bring a handle too! – can be bought from good
hardware store i.e. CCF)
- Garden sheers
- Loppers
- Secateurs
- Scissors / craft knifes
- Chisels
- Plane blades

NO saws, chainsaws or powertools please
All tools and equipment for the task will be provided.

Please bring a packed lunch but hot drinks will be provided
