A community based charity run by garden members, which places emphasis on the therapeutic benefits of horticultural and craft activities.
Smallholding near Durham City owned and managed by a workers coop using a permaculture approach. We produce food & crafts and provide courses.
|Alara Wholefoods Permaculture Garden||
Many days ago there was a dark and dingy dump, desecrated with detritus and dirty discards; dangerous and diseased.
We laboured and lugged, lifted lots of logs, let in the light, lured laughter to the land.
People prepared and planted pears and pomegranates, peaches, peas and passion fruit and plenty more in Permaculture paradise.
Much now grows as green regains the ground and greets grateful spirits gracefully in the garden.

|Comrie Croft (ScotLAND Learner)||
Comrie Croft is a community of ecotourism and land-based people and enterprises set at the foot of a mountain on the edge of the southern highlands. Enterprises include: A venue for weddings and events; farmstead accommodation (74 beds); a market garden; farm shop; cafe; bike trails, hire and shop; and a camping and glamping site. Our mission is to demonstrate that with the application of permaculture principles, entrepreneurial thinking and collaboration, rural places can be vibrant healthy places for people and nature. Ultimately we want to see permaculture design principles become mainstream.
The CountrySOLE Project is a green tourism and educational centre. The project aims to create a sustainable living system, utilizing natural, biodegradable, reused, and recycled materials and working with natural cycles.
