Red Oaks is designed to promote abundance and wildlife through sustainable, environmentally friendly means. Elements in the garden include a dedicated wildlife zone, a comfrey maker, wood chopping and wood drying facilities, a polytunnel, fruit bushes and trees, a series of ponds, and herb and veggie areas.

I completed a permaculture design certificate in January 2010. For the certificate I produced a plan of the house and garden. For the past 10 years John and I have been working on our plot to fulfil the planned elements. Currently, we are building a home made rainwater irrigation system for the polytunnel which diverts rainwater from the house gutters into a tank at the side of the tunnel. As aspects of the original plan have changed, I updated the design in 2019. We welcome visitors to share knowledge. Please telephone ahead to be sure we are in.
