Course summary

Quinta Kania is a permaculture farm situated in a perfect spot between the charming village of Vila do Mato and the beautiful Mondego valley in central Portugal. Every part of our life on the farm is consciously designed to serve people and our planet. For example, the water comes from our well and runs by gravity to the garden and the house. After use, it is cleaned by plants and returned to the soil. Meals are cooked on a stove, heated with wood from our forest. We have a cellar instead of a fridge that provides enough space to store all the farm’s harvest. Thus there is no need for electricity or gas to cook or store our food. Our buildings are all self built by us, using natural materials. Our forest is continuously replanted with many species of trees, helping to prevent wild fires and create a healthy, resilient, diverse ecosystem.
All these aspects and more will be covered in our 2 week PDC, run by us together with 2 other permaculture teachers creating a diverse pot of interests and stories. A passion for spreading permaculture knowledge is one of the things we have in common.
