Course summary

This weekend will cover key aspects of transitioning to a sustainable future including sustainable building and refurbishment, renewable energy and eco-project development. The first day of the weekend will be based at The Pines Calyx, one of the UK’s most outstanding examples of green building design and construction. It will cover the issues at the scale of the family and home, the community and the bio-region, considering how we can make out lives more sustainable at each of these levels. It will consider ‘appropriate economics’ and ‘appropriate education’, as well as looking at more down to earth subjects, such as compost toilets! For those who are staying at Rippledown for the whole weekend, there will be extra discussions, videos or other activities in the evenings, adding to the enjoyment and enriching experience the core course material provides.

For anyone who has already completed a PDC this weekend will help review your knowledge in these important areas as well as adding significantly more depth through both the expertise of the tutors (particularly in sustainable building, social enterprise and the initiation of innovative sustainability projects) and the range of excellent examples of sustainable building and renewable energy that will be included.
